Dr. Oetker TwistGrip

For this project I redesigned a Dr. Oetker vanilla essence bottle with a focus on improving the products inclusivity. My persona required a product which was visually distinguishable as a Dr. Oetker item as well as a design which was easy to operate despite the user suffering from arthritis in the hands.

I chose to rethink the idea of using an oil and instead replaced it with a wax essence. This would hopefully reduce the chance of slippage and also help avoid measurement accidents by reducing the concentration of the extract.
After conducting empathy testing to simulate my personas disabilities, I designed several bottle shapes which would aid a user with cataracts and arthritis in the hands.

The new design features a lip at the top of the product to prevent and slippage, as well as a larger overall product diameter with a ribbed pattern to aid grip.
This work is a part of a university project and was not affiliated with Dr. Oetker in any way.
